Easy Bake Ovens Recalled Over Burn Injuries

The Hasbro corporation is recalling approximately 1 million children's Easy Bake ovens.  The move follows 249 incidents of kid's hands becoming stuck in the opening, and 77 incidents of burn injury, 16 of which involved second or third degree burns.  One 5-year-old girl sustained burns that necessitated finger amputation.  An earlier recall of the same toys involved the installation of a repair kit, whereas this recall requires a complete replacement of the toy.
According to a Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) news release, ovens made before May 2006 are not included in the recall.  Affected units are labeled on the back with "Hasbro" and model number 65805.  The ovens were sold in Toys “R” Us, Wal-Mart, Target, KB Toys and other stores between May 2006 and July 2007 for about $25.

Consumers are urged to take the affected ovens away from children and arrange for a refund by contacting Easy-Bake at 1-800-601-8418, or by visiting Hasbro's web site
